Madre Linda is a suburb, it is the main setting of the third season of YOU.
The name Madre Linda also roughly translates to "beautiful mother", which reflects the transition to motherhood for Love and the tension this forms within her and Joe's relationship.
Trivia[]
- Madre Linda is not a real place, though it's mentioned to be a suburb of San Francisco.
- In the books, the setting is different. In the third book, You Love Me, Joe is living in Bainbridge Island in Washington not the upper-crust part of California where season three takes place. The house was given to Joe by Love's family, including $14 million as a request to stay away from Love and their new-born child Henry.
- Giving Joe's time in Madre Linda, he has a glass cage in the basement, that it used for every season. In the books, When Joe lives in Bainbridge, he keeps one person captive and she's locked in his basement. The basement in his house has a soundproof room called "the whisper room," which he uses as a makeshift cage. So there is no glass cage for Joe to use.
