Dante Ferguson is a recurring character that appears in the third season of the television series You. He is portrayed by Ben Mehl.
Character description[]
Dante, a librarian who retains his wit and equanimity no matter what the day brings. A veteran whose eyesight was damaged, Dante is a dedicated family man with a husband and two stepchildren who longs to expand his family, and delights in helping his friends with their children.
Dante meets Joe when he first starts working at the library. Good friends with Marienne, he conveys his disgust for her ex-husband Ryan, as well has helps prep her for her court hearing for custody of Juliette. Dante later informs Joe about her losing the case and that she didn't appear at work after. He tells the worried Joe where to find her.
Sometime later, Dante starts to babysit Joe and Love's infant son Henry, and grows attached to him. At one gig at his place with his husband Lansing, Love comes to pick Henry up early, with Joe arriving later, not knowing his wife took their child home. Dante and Lansing are confused by this, but are reassured by Joe that it's fine and he just forgot Love would be picking up Henry instead before he leaves.
Late that night, Dante wakes up to find Henry left on his doorstep with a letter written by Joe stating that he wants Dante and Lansing to take Henry in and raise him as their own. Love's mother Dottie attempts to fight for custody, but ultimately loses as it was Joe's final wishes before he "died".
Dante and Lansing then lovingly raise Henry on as their own son, saving the letter his biological father wrote him for later when he is older.
