Calvin is a recurring character on YOU. He is portrayed by Adwin Brown.
A manager at Anavrin, he is dissatisfied with the brand's focus on superficiality than actually caring about literature. He is resentful of Forty, due to being frequently subjected to poor treatment from their clashing interests about the cafe's identity.
Biography[]
A Fresh Start[]
Calvin interviews Joe Goldberg (posing as Will Bettelheim) for a clerk position at Anavrin. Initially disinterested due to Joe's lack of experience, he has his interest piqued when Joe pulls out a copy of Crime & Punishment, and is impressed by Joe's knowledge of it. He gives Joe a tour of Anavrin they share a disappointment of customer's apathy toward literature. He hires Joe on the spot.
Forty Quinn instructs Calvin to catch Joe up on Anavrin's author spotlight schedule. Calvin warns Joe about Forty losing his temper before leaving.
In a flashback, Calvin is seen being berated by Forty for ordering Crime and Punishment in bulk. Calvin fails to justify the order, and Forty threatens to fire him if he is unable to move the product.
Just the Tip[]
After Forty tells Joe of his plan to implement movies adapted from books at the store, Calvin further shows his disdain for Anavrin's identity.
What Are Friends For?[]
Calvin tells Joe that he is aware of his and Love Quinn's relationship, teasing Joe for his devotion to her.
Ex-istential Crisis[]
While Forty is helping Joe with getting on dating apps, Calvin interjects and suggests that Joe tries an app called "Magnolia". Calvin helps Forty educate Joe on dating app lingo which Joe rejects.
P.I. Joe[]
In a flashback of the previous night, Calvin is briefly seen hitting Joe with a rolling pin, mistaking him for an intruder.
Calvin is visited by Joe at Anavrin, who is hysterical remembering Joe's acid trip. Calvin tells Joe that he arrived at Anavrin at 11:18 to retrieve Moon Juice, and that Joe kept asking about snacks in the basement. Joe asks Calvin if he mentioned where he was planning to go next. Calvin reminds Joe that he must pay the store back for the items they took, and adds that Forty asked them to put a Grey Goose-infused tampon up his rectum.
Love, Actually[]
Following Forty's revelation about Joe, he orders Calvin to close the store early. Calvin is hesitant, but complies, to which Forty fires him for his tone. Fed up, Calvin calls Forty a pathetic junkie and storms out.
